David J. Schipper, President & CEO   email 

Mr. Schipper began his commercial real estate development career in 1978 under the mentorship of his father-in-law, Mr. Paul Tell.  He has since guided the growth of The Schipper Group to its present portfolio of nearly 20 different properties (companies) with a market value in excess of $120,000,000.  David’s strategy for success is built upon the dedicated leadership of his four-member executive team, each having a personal equity ownership position in one or more of the companies.

After graduating from Wheaton College (B.A. Psychology, 1965), David served as a captain in the US Marine Corps (1965-1969) flying as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, and was awarded the Distinguishing Flying Cross and 22 Air Medals.  He holds postgraduate degrees from Pepperdine University (M.A., 1972) and Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology (Ph.D., 1977).  Parallel to his early real estate career, David had a professional practice for eight years as an Ohio licensed psychologist. In addition to his real estate development career, David is actively involved in numerous philanthropic projects through his presidency of the Paul P. Tell Foundation. He is currently a board member of the Akron Children's Hospital Foundation, The Chapel in Akron, and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.  He has formerly served as chairman of the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.  David resides with his wife Jean Anne (Tell) in the Portage Lakes area of Akron, Ohio, and they have three adult daughters.

 

Jeffrey L. Reed, Vice President - Finance   email 

Joining The Schipper Group in 1995, Jeff brings more than 30 years of experience in real estate finance to our executive team.  He spent 13 years at the Red Roof Inn corporation, where he was in charge of finance and real estate development, as well as shorter tenures with Lymann Case and Bank One (now JP Morgan Chase). The executive team of The Schipper Group relies on Jeff’s comprehensive experience in negotiating with institutional lenders for both construction and permanent financing loans.

Jeff is a 1976 graduate of the University of Akron (B.S. Business Administration with emphases in finance and economics).  He and his wife Dr. Cheryl Reed (optometrist) reside in Bath Township, attend Grace Church and have two adult sons.

 

Dan Starnes, Vice President - Operations   email 

Dan joined The Schipper Group executive team in 1987, and during his tenure has been an integral part of growing the company’s real estate portfolio.  Dan’s primary responsibilities include tenant relations, property administration, risk management, and coordination of construction projects. The Schipper Group benefits from Dan’s expertise in business administration, sales and risk management, all stemming from his extensive earlier experience in the automotive, life insurance, and property and casualty insurance industries.

Dan was a psychology major at East Tennessee State University where he met his wife Sherry.  Away from the office, Dan enjoys hunting, fishing and golfing.  He and Sherry enjoy camping together and landscaping around their home near Hartville.  They are members of The Chapel in Green and have three adult sons.

 

Thomas G. Weise, Vice President - Leasing & Development   email 

Since joining our executive team in 1996, Tom has come to wear many hats on behalf of The Schipper Group.  His primary responsibilities include contract negotiation, legal and lease administration, asset management, acquisitions, marketing and project development supervision.  He also oversees implementation of the company’s technology initiatives.  Tom is a graduate of Cedarville University (B.A. Finance, 1996), and brings to the table years of accumulated experience in his family’s retail and real estate businesses.

Tom and his wife Jerra reside in Suffield Township with their three young children.  In addition to his church ministry involvement, Tom enjoys spending time outdoors fishing and gardening, and when the weather doesn’t cooperate, he is known to retreat indoors to his woodworking shop.

 

Joash Bloom, Project Manager   email 

Joash is the most recent addition to our team, joining The Schipper Group in 2007.  His primary responsibilities include management of both rehabilitation and new construction projects, marketing, information technology management, and property maintenance.

Joash is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute (B.S. in Aviation Technology) where he met his wife Mary.  Joash and Mary reside in the Portage Lakes area south of Akron, and are members of Faith Family Church in North Canton.  Joash enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, traveling, and ballroom dancing.

 

Judith Garey, Office Administrator   email 

Having joined The Schipper Group in 1992, Judy serves as administrative assistant to our executive team.  In addition to being responsible for general office administration, she also handles much of our bookkeeping needs.  Prior to her tenure here, she managed the service department of a large local heating and cooling contractor for 13 years.

Judy is actively involved in the Johnson United Methodist Church of Norton where she currently serves as director of the Children’s Ministry Department.  She is also involved at JC’s Place, a community outreach center located in Barberton.  Judy resides in Akron, and is the proud mother of three adult daughters, and grandmother of five beautiful grandchildren.

 

Tami Pallotta, Accounting Manager   email 

Tami is responsible for the accounting of our real estate portfolio comprised of 16 individual companies, consisting of C-corps, proprietorships, partnerships and limited liability companies.  In addition, Tami also handles much of our human resource and payroll administration, as well as the day to day oversight of our Waterford Village Apartments residential complex.  Tami draws on 20 years of accounting experience in other employment positions prior to joining The Schipper Group in the year 2000.

Tami is the proud mother of five children.  She resides with her husband Rich in Tallmadge, and devotes much of her time to numerous school and community related endeavors.  Tami and her family are members at Faith Family Church in North Canton where she is also actively involved in the children’s ministries.  In her spare time, Tami enjoys motorcycle riding with her husband, jet skiing and beach vacations with her family.
